DISCOVERING OUR INNER SELF
Consider the following situations which you might probably be experiencing:
1) We often hear people leaving the house without any breakfast and still stressed out with yesterday's fatigue. They get to the office passing thru traffic jam, sit in front of their desk and begin their usual routine work like read messages, answer e-mails and telephone, make price negotiations, schedule deliveries, prepare estimate sheets, etc. All these seem to be an endless routine work.
2) Unexpected loss of job brings a vague anxiety for the future. Finding a job is very difficult. There are instances wherein you have to bear hearing negative comments from career counsellors in job centres or from job consultants. While you make every effort to meet their advices to find new job, there are times you are losing confidence on yourself thereby feeling meaningless.
3) Sudden loss of job erases your existence because you were too focused on your work and in being a core part of the company that you forgot to pay attention to your personal life. As a result, you are left alone struggling to find your own identity.
When struggling during hard or difficult situations like the above, we should not be affected. We should remain plain and honest with ourselves without any pretense. That is what we call "Discovering our Inner Self". This means neither regretting for what we had done nor humbly do soul searching. Furthermore, we don't need to recall every single event of the past which is often practiced in psychoanalysis nor admit that we are inferior to others. For a fresh start, we should try establish a silent mode and avoid loud or rowdy thoughts in our mind. This attitude helps us freely accept the severe happenings in our life.
You will observe a special sense of feeling called perception. Perception is the process by which a person interprets information from the external world by means of its senses. Perception comes naturally in the mind by continually having a positive mental attitude. This perception leads us to discovering our inner self.
By deeply searching your inner self, all the meaningless emotions or strong negative feelings will cease to exist. A new plain world simply opens up to you. You suddenly become aware how much life is filled with worthy things and how wonderful life is! You will know that, just being yourself is simply beautiful.
Furthermore, you will discover that you belong to this world and you are one with it. From this realization, you can now establish your priorities and what steps to do. You will become firm because of your positive mental attitude and can endure future difficulties.
This becomes your foundation in creating a better relationship with other people such as your family or neighbours. You can tolerate any kind of problem whether big or small. In maintaining this kind of mental attitude, you become flexible in dealing with various kinds of hardships and can establish harmonious relationship with others. You develop two good contrasting characteristics: flexibility and strong will.
