SHORT BREAK EXERCISE

Short Break Exercise is a type of breathing exercise formed by the combination of respiratory movement and standing type yoga. Short Break Exercise adopts the basics of Yoga, Qigong and Tai Chi which is the ability to control the physical movement to harmonize with breathing. Once you have mastered any type of breathing exercise, the physical movement automatically becomes compatible with breathing without giving any attention to the movements of the other parts of the body.


One of the participants in a Macrobiotic conference asked me "Is there a simple breathing exercise that I can easily do?" I was just starting to explain the physical function and actual techniques of breathing exercise.

The man said that he was completely healed of a serious disease whose cause was unknown when he changed his food habit to the Macrobiotic style. He thought that physical exercise together with his new meal style would be very effective for having a healthy lifestyle. At that time, he felt something good using our breathing exercise. I heard more about his story. He is the president of a food company and has been under enormous stress for a long time.

So, I prepared an exercise and showed it to him asking, "How about doing like this?"

He gladly took a video of it and brought it home. He started to have the exercise whenever he felt a little tired or during lunch breaks. He also learned that other employees have been doing it. He noticed some good changes in his employees with this new exercise habit. The small mistakes of his employees which he cannot ignore because of the financial damage it may give his company drastically decreased.

I think all of us may have once experienced an unpleasant feeling when we sit down for a long time like driving for hours, doing simple desk work or pattern work in a factory.

This short break exercise is formed by a combination of respiratory movement and Yoga in standing position for approximately 10 minutes. This helps ease body tension particularly in the neck, shoulders and arms.
