CHALLENGES FOR THE FUTURE
Verifying the relationship between Oriental body work and Physiology
The studies aim to develop an innovative sports program by developing a tough mind capable of overcoming stress and obstacles are being conducted by the team of Professor Soya Hideaki at Laboratory of Exercise Biochemistry and Neuroendocrinology, Institute for Health and Sports Science, University of Tsukuba, Japan. It is called BAMIS (Body and Mind Integrated Science) Project. Professor Soya Hideaki expresses his opinion that it is the wish of every human person to live a comfortable life and to overcome stress in daily life. "Brain Fitness" is the state of the mind that can react positively against stressful events.
They investigate the effects of Budo and Oriental body-work and its relationship with cognitive neuroscience, information system engineering, physiology, and psychology and sports sociology. They are doing a research on how to achieve "brain fitness" by studying the relationship between body and mind.
I am a part of this research study to develop an innovative sports program. I help them understand Eastern ideas behind Oriental body works. I make some hypothesis to verify its relevance with exercise physiology.
